The Nude Lip of DREAMS | NYX Lip Lingerie Review

I didn’t think anything could tear my MAC Velvet Teddy lipstick and me apart. Forget cuddly toys, Velvet Teddy and I have been inseparable for as long as I can remember – ever since my mum used it when I was at school and I stole it right out of her makeup bag. But recently, I’ve been reaching for NYX’s new Liquid Lingerie range like a total traitor. Sorry VT, but it feels SO RIGHT.

The Lip Lingeries are a range of nude liquid lipsticks with a very pigmented, thick formula that dries completely matte. I’m a complete sucker for a matte lip, because I really struggle to find non-matte lippies that actually stay on. Yes, they can be drying, and these Lip Lingeries are no exception, but personally I’d rather just prep my lips with some balm, whack the product on and get on with my life. Who has time to reapply every hour? NOT I.

I bought the shade Bedtime Flirt (tehe). To be honest, I chose it because the shade Exotic had sold out. It wasn’t an easy choice; unless you’re one of the lucky ones with a NYX counter at your local Boots, you’re forced to gamble on the ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE online samples of the colours. I mean, this shade looks completely different in reality.

But hey, somehow my subconscious led me to Bedtime Flirt and I couldn’t be happier. I’m sorry VT, but I feel like Bedtime Flirt is YOU BUT BETTER (strong words). I think it’s those glorious dusky pink hues. I find pinky-nudes far more forgiving on fairer skin than overly brown tones which seem to wash me out.

There have been a flurry of these liquid lipsticks recently – the most hyped probably being those of the lip filler poster gal, Ms Kylie Jenner. I have to say, I haven’t yet succumbed to the Kylie Lip Kit hysteria. Nothing about sitting for hours in front of her website trying to place my order for something I probably didn’t want because everything else has sold out appeals to me. And although I’m partial to a Kylizzlemynizzl snapchat story or two (in fact I ask myself every day how one can have so many car journeys and the time to film oneself “singing” along to so many songs), I’m just not obsessed enough to find out when her restocks are. So for me, the NYX Liquid Lingeries are a welcome alternative. And plus, they’re £6.50 each with free click and collect. See, DREAMY.

I’ve paired mine with a Slide On Lip Pencil in Sugar Grass, another firm NYX favourite. Until now, I’ve been using the NYX Retractable Lip Liner in Natural and, so far, I think they’re on par with each other – both are long lasting, with easy to apply, waxy formulas. I might find myself going back to the Retractable liner simply because it doesn’t require sharpening. In any case, I am so goddamn impressed with NYX’s liners. I’d even go so far as to say I love them as much as my Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheats; and they’re an even better option if you’re on the hunt for a bargain.

Let me know if you have any other liquid lippy recommendations, there’s always room for more in me stash!
